Now that the rookies are 5 years in the game, Rookie Blue show runners are shaking things up a bit for the titled Life is Not a Fairytale fifth season when it comes to their personal lives.

Sam being shot doesn't help Andy's relationship with Nick as Sam's condition pushed her to tell Sam she still loves him, despite everything going great with Nick. This might change as Andy told Nick what she did.

Missy Peregrym who plays Andy said in a commentary video, "It's obviously extremely difficult to navigate what has happened with Sam..She has an extremely tough decision to make because she loves both of them."

She knows choosing Sam is risky because he's unstable and will have to get surgery after loosing lots of blood.

Actor Peter Mooney who portrays Nick Collins revealed that the title of the season fits just right for what challenges the characters face even on the premiere episode.

"Life is not a fairytale is the reality of we are dropped into right from the beginning of the season. It picks up right where the last season left off."

Mooney added, "Everything that seemed in the beginning of the day like a totally normal day has been tossed up in the air."

Writers and Co-Executive Producers for the show, Noelle Carbone and Sherry White, dished on a few secrets of the new episodes recently.

Carbone said, "They were in some form or fashion a rookie for five years, so it seems like the fifth season would be a good place to say, 'Did they get what they wanted? Are they the cop they thought they would be? Are the person they thought they would be? And the answer is 'yes' and 'no' at the same time."
