While there has recently been a lot of speculation about who'll star in the second season of True Detective, show creator Nic Pizzolatto revealed that he hadn't even begun casting yet in an interview dated May 25.

In a radio interview with The Best of Our Knowledge, Pizzolatto quashed all the rumors about Brad Pitt and Emma Stone starring that have been doing the rounds on the internet. The writer said that they will be working with three leads but casting hadn't begun. He also dished about the location and setting of the second season. Fans already know that the show will be set in California but Pizzolato elaborated on the kind of atmosphere they would try to capture..

"Right now, we're working with three leads. It takes place in California. Not Los Angeles, but some of the lesser known venues of California and we're going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambience of the place, much like we did with season one," he said. "The characters are all new, but I am deeply in love with all of them. We have the entire season broken out, and I have a couple of scripts, and we'll probably start casting within the coming month."

True Detective Will Have a Feminist Tone this Time Around?   

The latest actress to be associated with the casting for the show was Jessica Chastain. Recently Chastain dismissed the news as a rumor and stated that while it was an honor to be brought up as a prospective cast member for the show, which she was a "big fan" of, it also hurt her chances at getting a part in the show.

Over the last month names of actresses like Ellen Page, Kate Mara and Kristin Wiig have also come up in relation to the show.

The first season of the HBO series which was a critical success and starred Harrelson and McConaughey in the lead roles as a pair of detectives who revisit an unsolved case about a ritualistic serial killer after around a decade.

The first season of the series was was written by Pizzolatto and directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga.
