After recent news that the Deadpool solo film was "getting there," could it have been made a lot sooner with former Ant-Man director Edgar Wright?

Producer Confirms Deadpool Film Still Happening

Wright just pulled out of Ant-Man starring Paul Rudd, with much speculation as to exactly why. The rumors extend from Disney wanting more product placement to Marvel changing the script. Director Peyton Reed replaced Wright on the film.

When a fan wrote on Twitter that Wright should direct the highly anticipated Deadpool film after pulling out of Ant-Man, Robert Liefeld shot down any chance of that happening. "He had his chance..,was in the original mix"

Why Ryan Reynolds & Blake Lively Are 'Low Key'

Ryan Reynolds portrayed Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine with Hugh Jackman. "We sort of took a pretty strong choice on Deadpool, where we kind of stitched him up," Jackman said. "And I love the character of Deadpool and I think that the sort of badass, fast-talking, funny, annoying Deadpool vs. Wolverine would still be cool. We've sort of done it, but I think we could have done that much better."

X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner recently said that Reynolds is still Deadpool to her and as far as fans go, is expected to be in the film if it ever gets made. Simon Kinberg, writer and producer of the X-Men series also reiterated that the film is on its way. "They [Fox] definitely have a sense of it and there's a real interest and appetite for how to explore and expand that world into other movies, into spinoffs, into different time periods, the whole gamut."
