Guardians of the Galaxy is set to reintroduce Thanos to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the Mad Titan won't really make a splash until he next shares the screen with Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Kevin Feige, Marvel's Studios president of production, dropped a few hints regarding Thanos' (Josh Brolin) future in the MCU while at CineEurope, and it looks like fans can expect to see plenty more of the enigmatic villain as the studio moves into Phase Three. While James Gunn's space ballad will be staffed entirely by a rouges gallery of space travelers, the film will also set up Thanos and his crew.

"In particular, there's a villain in [Guardians of the Galaxy], that comic fans know as Thanos, that moviegoers will begin to learn more and more about in the coming years," Feige explained, according to Total Film. "He appeared at the very end of the first Avengers film... [and] we see him again in this movie [Guardians], we learn a little bit more about him in this movie, and he - and his band of followers - is the biggest piece of connective tissue that will eventually lead us back into Avengers films in the future."

However, it is currently unknown if Brolin's baddie will make his way into next May's The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
