After making the super-controversial decision to take her talents to Power 105.1 last week, Angie Martinez explained how and why it all happened, in a new interview with the Breakfast Club.

"This company offers so much opportunity for growth, and I want to be on in different cities," Martinez explained. "I wanted to grow, I wanted to be able to have new challenges, see new things... It was time."

Setting the record straight early in the interview allowed the Breakfast Club and Martinez to introduce listeners to a side of her, that most did not know. For once, she was the one answering the tough questions-- And in true Angie-style, she answered them with grace, authenticity, and a number of tweet-worthy quotes.

Plainly stated, The Voice of New York dropped gems. Enstars gathered the biggest takeaway moments from the interview.

1. She left Hot 97 without telling anyone, not even her mom (who also has a career in radio--who knew?!).

"I told nobody... I really don't believe in telling secrets. I didn't want opinions... I really wanted to make this decision by myself and feel good about it. This is the best decision for my future, for my family, without the noise of other opinions."

2. She doesn't care what people on social media have to say, especially about her loyalty.

"I just want to do good work and I don't want to get caught up in too many opinions... It's business and people leave jobs all of the time. I am not disloyal at all, I've always been extremely loyal... It was emotional and sad, but nobody was angry. Nobody felt like I was doing the wrong thing."

3. She's very much ready to leave her rap career in the past.

"Let's move on from that... It's 2014 fam! It was nice and that was cool, I got to travel and see the world but it's time to move on... The music thing was fun and it was cool, but it wasn't what my natural thing was."

4. She may eventually release the Tupac tapes, because she knows they matter.

"There are people who tweet me everyday about it... It was the first time I realized an interview could actually mean something... I will release the tapes when I feel it's time."

5. She is wary of overnight success.

"It's like fast food. It's cool in the moment but it deteriorates peoples' brands. Like, who are you? Then you're like a slave to a click or how many likes you get. I feel like people lose themselves in chasing the immediate hotness... You have to be patient and you have to be able to build an honest brand."

6. She turned down a job to be the 4th judge on American Idol (Again... Who knew?!)

"There are certain things, just out of respect and dignity that I haven't shared about that story. But, I will tell you it was just based the expectation that I was going to be some sort of character that is not who I am as a real person... And having to make people feel bad about themselves. I'm not a singer... I felt like a fraud."

Overall, we learned that Martinez ultimately cares about her quality of life. She only makes move if her heart is in it, and like BIG said, for her, the sky is truly the limit.

Welcome to chapter two, Ms. Martinez.
