Sherlock cast member Louise Brealey, who plays Molly on the series, recently revealed that one fantasy kiss sequence increased her popularity by double on social media.

Sherlock Could Be On For "A Very Long Time," Says Steven Moffat

Brealey spoke with RadioTimes about the big kiss in Season 3 that involved Molly kissing Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) in a fantasy sequence, which occurred during The Empty Hearse, the first episode of the season.

"It went completely crackers when the show came out," Brealey told the publication recently. "I got 7,000 Twitter followers within five minutes of that kiss airing. It had doubled by the time the episode ended."

Sherlock Season 4 is "The Plan" For New Episodes, No One-Off Special?

Sherlock fans did not express their outrage over Molly kissing Sherlock, rather, they were very congratulatory to Brealey. The actress attributes this to Molly's likability as a normal girl who is relatable due to her feelings of unrequited love.

"She's unthreatening. She's an ordinary woman experiencing the agony of unrequited love, and most of us have been there," she observed.

As far as Molly's potential return in Season 4 of Sherlock, things are looking up. Executive producer Steven Moffat previously suggested that the series would continue to have a female perspective added into the mix, noting that Molly worked well.

"A female perspective on that friendship and on that man is incredibly telling, incredibly illuminating," Moffat said. "So we've expanded hugely the part of Mrs. Hudson [played by Una Stubbs] because she didn't speak in the original. And we brought Molly in."

He also noted, "every time we bring a woman into Sherlock, it works hugely well."

Sherlock Season 4 does not have a current expected release date as they have not convened to even film any of it. Based on previous releases, though, it could come out in 2016.
