Falling Skies' Lexi may be an enigma wrapped in a riddle and tied up with an alien DNA bow, and her loyalty has now come in question.

What Will Transform Hal Mason On 'Falling Skies'? Drew Roy Character Possible Victim Of Human Skiterization?

Ben Mason (Connor Jessup) watched his little sis take a cordial midnight meeting with an Espheni during "The Eye," and now the resistance fighter's danger senses are on edge. Since Ben used to have his own secret alien meet ups, he may be less likely to judge Lexi's (Scarlett Byrne) actions. Viewers, on the other hand, are quick to worry about the curious character's choice in allies.

As fans anxiously wait to see which side Lexi will ultimately align herself with, Bryne recently explained the youngest Mason's confusing role.

Lourdes Explains Unwavering Trust In Lexi, Recovering From Mole Stigma On 'Falling Skies'

"It is compl[icated] because although Lexi is grown up, she is still a little child inside, despite her outward appearance," Bryne told Three If By Space. "I think for Ben, Maggie and Lourdes this is the first time since the invasion that they are in a place that is safe. For Ben that is confusing, the idea of peace is just not clicking with him. Lexi's entire being is to keep peace for them but I can't say much else about what that means."

Perhaps some of Lexi's curious nature will be explained in upcoming flashbacks. It's a format Falling Skies has skillfully avoided for three seasons, but the series will utilize hindsight in an effort to explain what Karen (Jessy Schram) did to the young baby Lexi last season. Look for this to occur in next week's "Exodus."

Falling Skies airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TNT.
