Director Zack Snyder has revealed a slew of new details on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, including info on whether or not Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) will face off, as the title suggests.

Snyder recently spoke with USA Today about Batman v Superman, revealing that the "v" in the title instead of "vs." is intentional.

"Suffice it to say there is a 'v' in between their names" as Snyder notes, explaining that this is "to keep it from being a straight 'versus' movie, even in the most subtle way." He said that he could not elaborate on the Batman-Superman relationship in the movie.

Snyder noted that because of the 75-year mythology for Batman, he did not feel it necessary to develop him through several movies. This is why he is older and more experienced in Batman v Superman.

Plus, "it's cooler to see a crusty old Batman beating the snot out of guys," he added.

With the inclusion of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Snyder also has the responsibility of accurately depicting the famous superhero for the first time on the big screen. While some scoffed at the cast of Gadot, Snyder assured that "she's working out and getting buff and ripped" for the part.

"You can talk all you want about other superhero movies, but it's Batman and Superman, let's just be honest," Snyder noted. "I don't know how you get bigger than that."

A promotional photo of Cavill as Superman was also released Thursday, with the muscular actor looking at the camera while wearing his Superman suit. The photo is very dark as rain falls around him, giving it similar imagery as the dark Batman photo released earlier in the year.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theaters on May 6, 2016.
