While people were celebrating with barbeques and fireworks over the 4th of July weekend, the cast of Universal's Pitch Perfect 2 decided to give fans a little something extra.

Director Elizabeth Banks Posts More Photos From 'Pitch Perfect 2' Set

Over the long weekend, creator and first-time director Elizabeth Banks (People Like Us, The Hunger Games) posted a video (featured below) to her website wishing fans a very happy 4th of July via a song by actors Ben Platt and Skylar Astin.

Doning a pair of matching purple jackets, the actors sang an a cappella rendition of America The Beautiful. They remained seated in front of an American flag during the performance, smiling constantly throughout the number.

At the conclusion of the song, Platt wished everyone a "Happy 4th of July" and the actors waved goodbye, upon which a title card appeared on screen, reading "Happy 4th Of July From Pitch Perfect 2".

Platt is known primarily for his work on Broadway in The Book of Mormon, as well as the role of Benji in the original Pitch Perfect film. He was even nominated in 2013 for Pitch Perfect in the category of "Teen Choice Award For Choice Movie Scene Stealer."

Astin also has a history on Broadway, having played Georg in the critically acclaimed Spring Awakening. He was also in the 2013 film 21 & Over and the 2008 comedy Hamlet 2.

Both Platt and Astin will be reprisingly their roles from Pitch Perfect for the sequel.

Pitch Perfect 2 hits theatres Spring 2015.
