"We thought the Bellas and the Trebles needed some competition," wrote Banks on her website, "Meet the gentlemen of The Filharmonic. They will be joining the Pitch Perfect 2 team."

The six man singing group first came into the spotlight when they became the "heartthrob" sensation on NBC's competition series The Sing Off in December 2013. The members of the group include VJ Rosales, Joe Caigoy, Trace Gaynor, Barry Fortgang, Jules Cruz and Niko Del Rey.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the a cappella group draws inspiration from 1990s hip-hop, along with jazz, opera, and theatre. Their role in the Universal film has not formally been announced, though Banks did acknowledge that the guys will be playing a rival a cappella group when the Bellas and the Trebles. It is uncertain at this time whether they will have any lines or be featured in the film aside from their performance onstage.

The film will follow the Bellas, the female a cappella underdogs from Pitch Perfect, as they become college seniors. Most of the original cast will be reprising their roles, with newcomers like actress Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, Ender's Game) stepping in as additions to the group.

Pitch Perfect 2 is scheduled to hit theatres May 15, 2015.
