The topsy-turvy world of Hannibal may soon get a little visit from Doctor Who's David Tennant.

The Scottish actor won't be able to whip out a sonic screwdriver to save the day, but Bryan Fuller would still like to bring the talented actor into his cannibalistic would.

"We had talked about David being a guest star in season two, and once again it's a schedule issue," Fuller told Digital Spy. "He was filming the American Broadchurch for our dates in season two, and he's also a very busy man, so it's about finding that window. I love David Tennant, I think he's a wonderful talent and I've been dying to work with him for many years now, so one way or another it's going to happen."

Unlike Eddie Izzard and Gillian Anderson, Tennant would probably not take on a major role or one that fits with Thomas Harris canon.

"No," Fuller explained. "With him it's basically, 'Do you want to do the show? Okay, in that case let's write something fantastic for you specifically.'"

Perhaps Tennant's schedule will clear up as Hannibal moves into season 3.
