The TNT drama was renewed for a fifth and final season on Friday, according to Deadline, a decision which means the 2nd Mass will need to either drive the alien forces from their land or see then end of humanity.

As Falling Skies prepares to conclude it's post-apocalyptic adventure, the head of programming for TNT took a moment to explain how the series' current season will feed into the 10-episode ending.

"Falling Skies has begun an ambitious and thrilling story arc this summer as it sets the stage for next year's climactic final season," said Michael Wright, according to Three if by Space.

Meanwhile, the cast is extremely pleased to have a chance to properly wrap up the story of the Masons and the 2 nd Mass.

"#FallingSkies just got picked up for a 5 th & final season! Thank you for watching our man ma[d]e alien apocalypse & stick around until the very end," tweeted actor Drew Roy (Hal) on Friday.
