Agents of SHIELD's Grant Ward may not get the happy ending fans are hoping for.

Will Maria Hill's Return To 'Agents Of SHIELD' Tie To 'Avengers 2'? Series Has 'Plans To Bring' In Cobie Smulders Character

The ABC series only started shooting season 2 on Thursday, but the cast seemed fairly certain that a Ward (Brett Dalton) redemption arc would not be something their characters would accept.

Ward, a former member of Phil Coulson's (Clark Gregg) elite SHIELD team, betrayed his fellow agents in more ways than one during season 1. The duplicitous turncoat was not only secretly working for HYDRA (see video below), but he also nearly killed Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) while wrecking romantic relationships with Skye (Chloe Bennet) and May (Ming-Na Wen).

"I don't know," Bennet mused during the Agents of SHIELD 2014 San Diego Comic-Con panel, according to Digital Spy. "He's just really hot as a Hydra agent, isn't he? I'm going to say no."

The newly promoted Director Coulson would also be against trusting his old coworker, according to Gregg.

"I don't feel good about it," Gregg said, according to Digital Spy. "But maybe. If he bought Fitz a monkey."
