Every time Quentin Tarantino is working on a new movie, it is an event.

Kurt Russell 'Confirms' The Hateful Eight

As such, when murmurs of a new Western first came to light it was met with a lot of excitement until Tarantino got angry about various Internet doings and said the film was axed. Well, it seems Tarantino has had a change of heart. On Sunday, Deadline reported that Tarantino has confirmed that he is moving forward with The Hateful Eight.

The announcement came during a panel Tarantino was doing at Comic-Con to announce a comic book based on his last film, Django Unchained. However, obviously that news was buried by the confirmation of The Hateful Eight. The movie first came to light when the script leaked onto the Internet, as scripts do sometimes, and Tarantino, fairly, become quite irked. He vowed to spike the project out of spite, but clearly things have changed.

Quentin Tarantino Wins Best Original Screenplay Oscar

A few months ago, Tarantino staged a public reading of the script, replete with a star studded cast to read various roles, and at that point it seemed likely he would end up going forward with it despite his earlier protestations. So now fans of the multiple Oscar winner filmmaker can rejoice in the knowledge they will get to see Tarantino make another Western. Of course, filmmaking can be a long process, but given Tarantino's rabid fan base, there will probably be a wave of excitement that can carry folks until The Hateful Eight finally becomes more than a well-traveled script.
