The insider told E! News that 19-year-old Brooks' failure to show up at her grandfather's funeral was a huge factor in the Problem singer's decision to call it quits.

"When her grandfather was dying, everyone was there for her. People flew to Florida to be with her, but Jai didn't. Ariana just felt he wasn't there like he should have been."

This speculation lines up with an interesting tweet Grande posted Monday in which she thanked fans for their support and encouraged them to be around others who are there for them.

The 21-year-old wrote, "you learn a lot about love, life & the ppl around you during a time of crisis. July was painful for many reasons but of all the personal loss I suffered last month, the loss of my grandfather, a true gentleman, was the one that truly mattered.

"I thank my loves for being so in tune to what is good and right for me and my heart... I hope you will surround yourselves with people who will be there for you thru the bad times, not just the good."

Rumors that Grande and Dance rapper Big Sean sparked after the two were spotted heading into a movie theater together. A fan tweeted a picture and claimed they were kissing during the entire movie.

An insider close to the couple insisted that they two are just friends.
