While the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie introduced the world to a brand new team of heroes, the sequel could bring in a few new faces to add to the team.

Chris Pratt Says His Sex Drive Has Improved

As part of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Art Of The Movie book, early concept art shows that the character Nova was initially expected to show up in the first movie. The armor and helmet are reminiscent of the recent NINO Nova, that fans did not respond well to.

But in an interview with Wired, director James Gunn refuted any claims that Nova would appear in any future Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

'Guardians' News: Sequel To Answer Group's Biggest Questions

"I think certain people really like Nova. Quite honestly, I really don't care. He's not a favourite character. I don't know whether he's ever going to show up," Gunn said.

"I think they serve a purpose? I like the Nova Corps, I just don't like Nova that much! He's okay, you know? I just don't like that helmet!"

While Gunn doesn't like Nova, it seems weird that they would even consider the character early on. Not to say he won't show up, but maybe Gunn will come around once the 2017 release date gets a little closer.

According to ComicBookNews, Nova figurines and characters are right now selling well with the other Guardians characters so Gunn may be pushed to include the character to appease the new wave of fans entering the fold.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is set to open in theaters on July 28, 2017.
