It seems like Drew Goddard's Sinister Six movie will be bringing back one of Spider-Man's most famed villains, but also one that was featured in one of the hero's best movies to date.

Release Date For 'Sinister Six' Announced While 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3' Pushed Back

Deadline reports that Doctor Octopus will be the villain that brings together the team of bad guys looking to displace of Spider-Man. The character was last portrayed by Alfred Molina in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2.

Deadline added that there are a lot of different Sinister Six team-ups so it has yet to be revealed which characters might appear, but one possibility is Vulture, Mysterio, Electro, Kraven the Hunter and Sandman.

'Amazing Spider-Man' Spinoff Movie, 'Venom,' Set For 2017 Release, Could Bring Back Fan Favorite

One source told Deadline that those behind the movie are excited about having Goddard involved because of his comic book knowledge. "Having Goddard on board places the movie in the hands of someone who has lived in this world," the source said.

"If you look at Cabin In The Woods, he did such a phenomenal job on that in redefining and commenting on the genre while also completely embracing it. He's a fanboy which compliments his talents as a filmmaker."

The idea of having a villain team-up isn't new in the comics, but is for the movies. It would allow Sony to introduce a range of villains, without having to bloat their Spider-Man standalone movies, like they did with the most recent effort.

It also would finally give some heroes like Kraven the Hunter or Mysterio a chance to hit the big screen for the first time and re-do some of the failed attempts like Sandman.

Sinister Six opens in theaters on November 11, 2016.
