With Adele still in limbo about returning to the James Bond franchise, it seems like her reported replacement was nothing more than a big rumor.

English Fashion Model Shows Interest In 'Bond 24' Role

Speaking with NME News on Wednesday, singer Sam Smith debunked any rumors that he would be singing the theme song for the upcoming Bond 24 anytime soon. "No, I have no idea what that was about and I know as much as you do," Smith said.

"You probably know more than me; I didn't even read the article. I think it's something everyone would love to do, but yeah, it was all news to me. I won't say any more on it."

Smith did talk about one of his favorite Bond themes, the recent hit Another Way To Die, which was recorded by Jack White and Alicia Keys for 2008's Quantum of Solace. "My favorite Bond them was Jack White and Alicia Keys," Smith revealed. "I love that. I thought it was amazing. Her voice and his voice together, I thought, was really interesting."

Adele sung the theme song for the last Bond movie, Skyfall, but was rumored to bail out after not meeting on negotiations. Star Daniel Craig was also supposedly keen on bringing her back on board for the next movie.

Bond 24 will have Sam Mendes return to the director's chair with John Logan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade returning to write the screenplay. Craig is joined by Naomie Harris, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, and Rory Kinnear for the follow-up. No word yet on who will be the Bond girl.
