One of the executive producers on FX's Sons of Anarchy has compared the ending of the motorcycle drama to that of the classic film The Godfather.

Jax Gives In To 'Violent Desires' In New Sons of Anarchy Trailer

Sons of Anarchy executive producer and frequent director Paris Barclay spoke with Collider about the final season this week. By the sound of Barclay's comments, fans may be saying goodbye to some of their favorite characters.

"I think I can say pretty safely that the club will not be the same, at the end of this season." Barclay teased, cryptically. "It's not like we're trying to save everything and set it up like we're gonna do a movie, like everyone else does. The story that [showrunner] Kurt [Sutter] wants to tell ends up with the chickens coming home to roost, so bad things are gonna happen. It's like The Godfather. Not too many people that you saw at the beginning of The Godfather were there at the end."

Sons of Anarchy Jax Set To Go On 'Bloody Path' Of Revenge In Final Season

Sons of Anarchy has often been compared to a Greek or Shakespearean tragedy, in terms of the family struggles and frequent deaths. As with almost every tragic play, everyone dies in the end, and while there may still be people left standing at the end of Sons of Anarchy, it sounds like it could be a bloodbath in the end.

Season 6 featured the death of two very big characters, Clay (Ron Perlman) and Tara (Maggie Siff). It is safe to assume that fans can expect even more death and drama as the series goes for its final ride.

Sons of Anarchy Season 7 is set to begin Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
