While fans await any spoilers for the highly anticipated fourth season premiere of The CW's Hart of Dixie, actress Jaime King has opened up about portraying the sassy Lemon Breeland.

King graces the cover of Vegas magazine's Fall Fashion issue and revealed she turned down the role multiple times, but has come to terms with playing a Southern belle.

"The more I thought about it, the more I realized that no one else could play her. I wanted to take a character that was, on paper, a very rigid classic Southern belle and turn her into someone whom you really understood."

Avid viewers saw Lemon go through lots of character changes and growth in the most recent season of the show. From partnering with Wade as co-owner of the local bar Rammer Jammer, to stepping away from the Belles, having a few civil moments with her arch nemesis Zoe Hart and even forgiving George for leaving her at the altar, it's safe to say Lemon found much of herself this season.

King revealed that that is how she hoped it would be.

"I wanted to show the root of where her fear came from -- the loss of her mother, the concern about being abandoned, the idea that if she were perfect, she would be of value again."

King, who gave birth to her first child James, also spoke on the new joys she has discovered in motherhood.

"When you have a child, you realize that he's all that really matters. It's so easy to get caught up in the illusion of what this industry is all about, to get stuck on my personal hang-ups. But then I look at James and remember that tomorrow is a new day."

Hart of Dixie is slated to return for its fourth season in January 2015. King has also resurrected her role as identical twins Goldie and Wendy in the newly released film Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
