The Avengers will be short on friends during Age of Ultron, and Captain America's HYDRA debacle will leave them wondering which of their SHIELD comrades can be trusted.

Now backed by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Earth's Mightiest Heroes will soon reunite for the first time since the Battle of New York. Unfortunately, the true allegiances of those who failed to come to Caps aid in The Winter Soldier have yet to be determined.

Luckily for Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), his allegiance to Captain America (Chris Evans) is sound. Although the scene was never filmed, Hawkeye did choose to support his fellow Avenger during The Winter Soldier.

"What it was going to be, we were trying to complicate the relationship between Cap and his S.H.I.E.L.D agent friends. If Hawkeye got a call from S.H.I.E.L.D saying Captain America is a fugitive, would he listen to that call or not listen to that call?" said Winter Soldier director Joe Russo, according to Screen Rant.

As Hawkeye then chased Cap throughout DC, seemingly supporting the corrupted SHIELD, Cap eventually made a startling discovery about his friend.

"And then Cap took him down and he realized for the first time that Hawkeye was trying to trick S.H.I.E.L.D, where he whispered something into Cap's ear that Cap had a tracker on his suit and to punch Hawkeye to make it look real, because there was a Quinjet hovering above where they were watching the feedback back at S.H.I.E.L.D," Russo explained.

With the Avengers seemingly ready to have each others backs no matter the circumstances, they should be ready to assemble once more in Age of Ultron.
