The Fosters is set to return this holiday season with a title that gives a tease on what the Christmas special will be about.

Chatter On Connor's Difficult Decision On 'The Fosters'

On Tuesday, executive producer Bradley Bredeweg tweeted a photo of the script that show's the episode's title as "Christmas Past." While this can give a number of possibilities for what the holiday special will contain, it sounds like it'll include moments that took place a while ago.

One theory to consider is that there might be a take on the classic tale A Christmas Carol considering that there is a ghost of Christmas Past. It's too soon to tell if there will be scenes involving three ghosts who haunt an angry old man, but it's something to keep in the back of viewers' minds. The episode could also just be about the family and how they all made it to where they are now based on what the past has given them.

Even though the show will be back for a Christmas special, there is still no word if there will be a third season. In a report from Carter Matt, The Fosters outpaced Switched at Birth, which is supposed to come back for a fourth season. So if Switched at Birth has already been renewed, that leaves decent odds for The Fosters. But it looks like it'll depend on how well the winter ratings do.

The Fosters Christmas special is expected to air this December on ABC Family.
