Lately Juan Pablo Galavis has been using his celebrity status from ABC's The Bachelor to promote his upcoming stint on the VH1 reality series Couples Therapy. On Thursday, however, Galavis took a break from self promotion to assist a friend in need.

"I need your HELP…" tweeted the former soccer player, "Please donate, it's a GOOD friend of mine that has CANCER…"

A few moments later, Galavis reposted the announcement in Spanish as well.

With each message Galavis provided a link to the fundraising site You Caring, which included a page created by Carolina Wayow on behalf of Jonathan Wayow.

Former 'Bachelor' Star Admits Error

Jonathan was recently diagnosed with a cancerous mass on both his kidney and back, for which he received two operations. The third operation is coming up and without insurance his family is struggling. They were forced to leave their lives in Brazil to assist him, which has made for both financial and emotional strain. So far $19,414 have been raised. The goal is $50,000.

With 56 days left to donate, Galavis has turned to his fans for support.

Though the former Bachelor has a strong Twitter presence with over 250,000 followers, the post has received less than a dozen retweets and only two comments.

Galavis recently caused a whirlwind of publicity following allegations that he had cheated on his girlfriend Nikki Ferrell while he was away in Atlantic City, N.J. While both Galavis and Ferrell insisted there was no truth to the claim, the pair did received a lot of attention for it.

Unfortunately for Galavis and his cause, it seems some of that attention has decreased now.
