Dancing With the Stars fan favorite pro Derek Hough is excited to have his sister Julianne Hough as a permanent judge on the upcoming season of the dance competition.

Derek spoke with ABC recently about sister Julianne becoming the fourth judge of the series, joining regulars Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli.

"She's a fair judge. She's a good judge. She's got insight. She's honest," Derek says in the video. "She wants to give proper advice and really be honest." He noted that he would probably be a "terrible judge" because he would just end up praising everyone.

While he is happy for Julianne, he also admits that he's a bit nervous for her, in terms of audience backlash.

"As a brother, I'm nervous - because judging is a strange place to be in, because you're going to say things that the audience might not agree with," he notes. "That's kind of what the judges are there for ... I know, for me, a lot of fans come up to me [and say] 'I hate that Len, he's so mean to you!' and I'm like 'No, no, he's great! Len's awesome!'"

Julianne previously appeared as a guest judge on Season 17 and Season 18, creating memorable moments each time. In Season 17, she told Mark Ballas' partner Christina Milian that she has to fight to make sure she's seen, suggesting that Ballas shows off too much.

In Season 18, Julianne appeared during the Switch Up week, in which the celebrities switched partners. Julianne told Maks Chmerkovskiy that it seemed like he was "phoning in" his performance with new partner Danica McKellar.

It remains to be seen if Julianne will continue to have these critical moments in Season 19, though it seems pretty likely at this point.

Dancing With the Stars Season 19 is set to premiere Monday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
