Kate is a Boston Globe reporter who is investigating Sully's death, and has been interacting, rather intimately, with Ray as she digs deeper. The actress said while playing the character, she has come to learn a lot about the journalistic profession.

"From knowing how she is, I was able to glean a lot about what a reporter's like," Shaw said.

In fact Kate's storyline will be highlighted in the upcoming episode of season 2.

"Kate confronts Ray about his past," is the tag line the promo for episode 10 runs with, albeit the clip does not focus on any revelatory verbal exchange between Ray and Kate. The two are seen in a motel room together, and in a fit of anger he is seen attempting to choke her, as she says, "You going to kill me, Ray?"

The second season premiered on July 13.

The next episode of Ray Donovan will air on Sunday, September 13 at 8 pm ET/PT on Showtime.
