It looks like production is heading into overdrive now with the next Mission: Impossible movie as the full cast is assembling on the Christopher McQuarrie directed film. But one star from the last installment is still nowhere to be found. Is she still apart of the franchise?

'Prometheus' Star In Talks To Play Tom Cruise's Adversary In 'Mission Impossible 5'

McQuarrie took to Twitter yesterday to debut a picture of most of the film's cast including: Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, and Ving Rhames. The cast also includes Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin, and Sean Harris but they are not on set yet.

But one face from Ghost Protocol is still missing and it seems like she isn't a part of this movie, but why did Paula Patton get cut?

Patton, of course, played the female lead in the last Mission: Impossible movie with a hint of being a possible love interest for Cruise's Ethan Hunt. It also begs the question if Michelle Monaghan, who played Hunt's wife Julia in Mission: Impossible III and cameoed in Ghost Protocol, would appear either.

It appears right now that Ferguson, who has already been shooting scenes with Cruise in Vienna, will be the female lead but it begs the question if she will be taking over Patton's spot or will just be another one movie character.

Patton has yet to say anything about not starring in the movie, but with production underway, it seems like she won't be apart of the franchise anymore.

Mission: Impossible 5 comes from a Drew Pearce script and is set to open in theaters on Christmas Day 2015.
