This means that fans will be able to "feel the tactile effects when a bomb explodes and sense the drama building with an orchestrated combination of sight, sound and touch," according to the press release.

"We're always looking for innovative ways to create memorable fan experiences on mobile devices and it's exciting to partner with Immersion for our number one series, Homeland," said Don Buckley, the Executive Vice President, Program Marketing & Digital Services for Showtime. "The subtle, yet impactful placement of the haptic technology builds anticipation, giving the trailer an added element of suspense, achieved through a combined sensory experience."

It is assumed that the new technology will eventually lead to other clips being given the "haptically enabled" treatment.

The upcoming season of Homeland features Carrie (Claire Danes) living in the Middle East as the new Station Chief in Islamabad and Kabul.

Homeland Season 4 premieres Sunday, Oct. 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.
