Fans were delighted when Jake (Andy Samberg) admitted his feelings for Amy (Melissa Fumero) in the season one finale of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but things continue to look as if they're going to get in the adorable couple's way on the show's new season.

Fans Will 'Be Surprised' By Jake & Amy?

In an exclusive interview with The Wrap, Samberg and Fumero dished on how the admission will affect the two after Jake returns from his undercover assignment in the mob.

"When he comes back, he definitely has to address that with her," Samberg said. "He has to grapple with where he stands with her, both as a friend and otherwise."

Melissa Fumero Dishes On Relationship With Andy Samberg

"What does this mean for our friendship now? I feel really uncomfortable," Fumero said in reference to her character's feelings. "This just got super awkward."

In an exclusive first look clip at the episode, fans see that when Jake goes to talk with Amy in private about the admission, she will break his heart just a little bit by admitting she is still in her relationship.

"So now that we are alone, I have to ask..." Jake asks in the clip.

"I'm still with Teddy," Amy says. "Romantic styles."

But, even though he still has his feelings for Amy, Jake could find himself soon distracted by another face, something Andre Braugher (Captain Holt) teased to Hollywood Life.

Though he admits that Jake is still in love with Amy, Braugher said the goofball detective will find some solace when he meets defense attorney Sophia, portrayed by guest star Eva Longoria.

"She stirs things up with Peralta-turns it to romantic comedy very briefly," Braugher dished.

But even though things don't look good for a Peraltiago romance right now, fans shouldn't necessarily count it out in the future, as Fumero believes that the two characters may just be what one another needs.

"I think that Jake and Amy could sort of balance each other out," she told The Wrap about a potential future romance. "Maybe he could loosen her up and she'd have more fun, and he would maybe mature."

Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 2 premieres Sunday, Sept. 28 at 8:30 p.m. on FOX.
