With a giant team being assembled for the next X-Men movie, it could mean a lot of new and old faces will be appearing much like in the last one to fight a common enemy. But according to the film's writer, a lot of family relations could come up during the film and he also teased the opportunity to move the story of the original cast along.

'X-Men: Apocalypse' Writer Dishes On The Future Of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine

Speaking with Yahoo! on Friday, writer/producer Simon Kinberg talked about the relationship between Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Quicksilver (Evan Peters), who in the comics are father and son and how they might address this in the movie.

"It is a fascinating relationship. Erik grew up without a family, it's such a huge part of him, of his mission," Kinberg said.

Which 'X-Men: Last Stand' Villain Could Come Back For 'Apocalypse?'

"So the idea of exploring what it means for Magneto to be a father and reconnect with a son many years after his birth, is fascinating and certainly something that would be interesting to explore in future films."

Kinberg added that with this next film, a lot of the "future" characters from the last movie most likely won't be showing up like they were originally cast, making way for new actors in the roles.

"'Apocalypse' really follows the stories of the 'First Class' mutants, so in future X-Men films, perhaps, but in 'Apocalypse', it'll really be the younger generations," he said.

The writer also added that while no discussions have taken place, he would be open to revisiting the original cast with a fourth movie.

"I'm entirely focused on 'Apocalypse' and hopefully the best film in the franchise [but] it would be lovely to work with the original actors again. Perhaps, but right now it's all 'Apocalypse,'" Kinberg said.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
