The Helix showrunner will take on Cassandra Clare's novels after last year's The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones faltered in theaters, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Instead of waiting for a silver screen release, Constaintin Film will soon bring the YA stories to fans on a weekly basis.

"It actually makes sense to do (the novels) as a TV series," said Martin Moskowicz, the head of Constantin Film and TV, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "There was so much from the book that we had to leave out of the Mortal Instruments film. In the series we'll be able to go deeper and explore this world in greater detail and depth."

Clare took to Twitter on Sunday to field fan questions, but much of the project remains a mystery. The series is not currently consulting with Clare, and the writer stated that Decter and Co. are under no obligation to do so.

It is currently unknown if The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' characters will be recast for the upcoming project.
