Fans are so happy that The Walking Dead is back on AMC, but star Andrew Lincoln (Rick) doesn't have many clues to give them about the upcoming season.

The only spoiler Lincoln would share when asked by the Toronto Star Saturday was, "The season is in two halves," Lincoln said, "and each one is like a Beatles song. The first half is Helter Skelter; the second half is A Day in the Life."

Lincoln said he liked the opportunity to get to play his hit character because no one knew much about Rick during Season 1. "He's not the most open and articulate man out there, but he also was a very successful cop and he knew how to read people, even if he did miss out for a long time that his best friend was sleeping with his wife."

The Walking Dead is now in Season 5 and Lincoln said that Rick has grown over the past five seasons. "I love the way the story keeps subverting our ideas of what things are supposed to be like. I think now it's a lot about Rick holding on to the past when he knows he's got to let go of the past. The rights and wrongs of old morality don't belong in this new place."

Lincoln said that the show is about developing "our own mortality.

"We've been forced to face the animal inside of us and now that we have, we keep asking, 'Do I deny this part of my being? Do I deny my brutality?'"

The Walking Dead airs Sunday's at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
