Zach Galifianakis played the pudgy brother-in-law in the Hangover series, but now the 45-year-old comedian shed a ton of weight.

After not being seen in public for a year, Galifianakis walked the red carpet on Sunday to promote his new movie, Birdman (Or The Unexpected Virtue Of Ignorance), and showed off his new physique.

The actor joked about his weight loss during the red carpet interviews telling E! News, "I'm dying."

However, Galifianakis spoke more seriously about losing some weight when he visited Conan O'Brien's talk show last year and revealed that he cut back on his alcohol consumption.

"I stopped drinking and I kind of put the weight off," he said. "I was having a lot of vodka with sausage - delicious but bad for you."

He added: "I was getting into too much trouble with the drinking."

Galifianakis's weight loss comes a year after the actor welcomed his first child with wife Quinn Lundberg in September 2013. The two said "I do" in August 2012.
