The Originals is all about family at its core, but The CW series isn't afraid to push the boundaries of censorship when it comes to action.

No Romance For Elijah & Gia On 'The Originals'

On Monday director Matt Hastings posted a photo that is sure to remind fans that The Vampire Diaries spin-off doesn't necessarily hold back when it comes to shock value.

Find Out Why The Fate Of 'The Vampire Diaries' Lies With 'The Originals'

This sentiment only echoes the brutality of Monday night's episode Alive And Kicking where flashbacks showed bodies cast across the courtyard and a Shakespearean performance which followed each line so accurately the performers actually died onstage.

Now that Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) are aware of their parents return, the carnage is sure to be taken up a notch. Klaus does after all possess murderous tendencies even without the added strain of having to confront a father who despises him specifically and a mother who declares their whole family an abomination.

Entitled Every Mother's Son, Episode 3 will bring the Mikaelsons face-to-face after Klaus' mother Esther invites herself over for dinner. Having never felt loved by his mother or his father, who has hunted him across the world in pursuit of killing the hybrid, the original vampire has more than a few choice words for them both.

The Originals continues on The CW with its second season Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
