Penny Dreadful is getting all new toys as the Showtime series introduces some medieval weaponry for its second season.

Producer Christopher King shared the first photo on Wednesday, giving viewers a glimpse at the swords, axes, and other blades which will be featured in upcoming episodes of the Victorian supernatural drama.

James Hawes, who has been on-deck directing the show since September, confirmed that Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) and company will be looking into medieval warfare this season, possibly in relation to some of the new enemies they will be facing.

Filming for the scene Hawes mentioned took place in a Dublin museum, which he referred to on Twitter the day before.

Season 1 focused mainly on the use of guns and knives to fight off the vampyric creatures the series leads encountered, but with all sorts of new toys, the show might just dig deeper into its historic roots.

It seems if there's one thing the program won't be short on it's conflict as the drama enters into new episodes.

Penny Dreadful will return on Showtime for its second season in 2015.
