Since The Affair premiered on Showtime the most intriguing part about the plot has to do with this mysterious investigation that Noah (Dominic West) and Alison (Ruth Wilson) are subject to. Judging by the first episode and the preview for the next one, there is reason to believe that the case might have to do with the murder of Cole (Joshua Jackson), Alison's husband.

Noah & Alison Get Hot And Heavy In The Upcoming Episode Of The Affair

In the first episode, while Dominic's marriage to his wife Helen (Maura Tierney) seems to be stable, but Alison is on a bumpy road with Cole, as it is revealed they recently lost a child. Through the episode their strained relationship is impressed upon and Cole is also seen flirting with bouts of aggression toward Alison. In the preview of the next episode Dominic is asked by the investigator, "if anybody might have had a motive to kill this fellow." To which Dominic reponds stating he thought it was an accident. So the investigation is about the murder of a guy, and of the information and hints we have up until now, it seems like the person in question might be Cole.

The premiere of Showtime's new drama, The Affair, has already caught the attention of critics, and has viewers hooked with its Rashomon-styled narrative.

The show premiered on October 12 and revolves around Noah, a writer struggling to pen his next novel. and Alison, a waitress at a diner as the duo recall their affair for a mysterious interrogation. The fans aren't made privvy to the subject of the interrogation in the first episode. Both Noah and Alison are married, while Noah seems happily married with four children, Alison's marriage is tumultous over the loss of their only child.

The show premiered on October 12. The first episode is available for free viewing on the official website.

The next episode of the series will air on October 19 at 10 pm ET/PT on Showtime.
