Penny Dreadful returns on Showtime next year for a second season, and with new episodes will come some interesting new sets.

'Penny Dreadful' Goes Medieval In Upcoming Episodes

While some of the show's iconic locals, such as Victor Frankenstein's (Harry Treadaway) lab will remain, director James Hawes teased one set on Twitter Thursday which hasn't been seen by fans before.

The design seems to pair skeletal remains with an old blade, which is possibly related to the medieval weaponry producer Christopher King shared on Twitter Wednesday.

With the study of "medieval conflicts" becoming of great importance this season, Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) and company could come across dark new characters with a few grim hobbies, who may or may not be an ally. Upcoming episodes also intend to take on some very human villains in addition to vampires and other creatures, which means it won't simply be a matter of hunting down monsters.

Even if Season 2 does show the characters delving into more research then they had during Season 1, both King and Hawes have promised some pretty intense action is still to come.
