Angela Bassett has already turned heads with her role as a three-breasted hermaphrodite on FX's American Horror Story: Freak Show and now she's previewing what ahead for her character as well as what the reaction has been on set.

Bassett plays Desiree Dupree on Freak Show, a three-breasted woman with both male and female parts who joins the freak show in Jupiter, Fla. with husband Dell Toledo (Michael Chiklis). The actress spoke with Cosmopolitan this week about the role and how it compares to Marie Laveau, her role in Coven.

"She's more sensual, sexual," Bassett said when asked about the difference between the characters. "This last episode we shot, [Desiree] does exact a little payback toward men. She sort of gathers the truth and exacts her payback. She wants to be free, but she's dependent on her husband, on a man, because she's basically, since the age of 12, been an outsider. So she joined a troupe of outsiders."

Debuting in Episode 2, Desiree has mostly just been along for the ride while husband Dell has already taken charge as the strong male figure in the freak show. However, it seems that Desiree will be getting her moment to shine soon.

Bassett already seems to be a hit offscreen when she wears her three-breast prosthetic. The actress admitted, though, that she doesn't exactly feel "sexy" when she has it on.

"I actually feel sexier with the heels on [laughs]. As opposed to breasts," she admitted. "I mean, it's just funny to see the reactions of men, women, of people on stage. It takes them back. They're freaking out. You're not looking down at yourself, you're just trying to get some food from craft services and it's like, 'Hey!' That darned third breast is saying, 'Hey!' Folks turn away, guys are like, 'Oh my god!' They turn or they stare. They know it's not real but it's as if I'm walking around topless or something."

It remains to be seen if she will get to display her three breasts as prominently as she did in the second episode.
