After a tiebreaker with Russian gymnast Aliya Mustafina, Team USA's Aly Raisman came in fourth place, earning her no medal and leaving many questioning if it was because of a faulted tiebreaker.

"Aly Raisman was screwed out of the bronze medal," Business Insider used as their headline in reporting on the event's final results, where America's Gabby Douglas won the gold.

The 18-year-old from Boston got her spot in the individual finals by beating Olympic medalist Jordyn Wieber in the preliminaries and many believed she should have gone all the way at least to earn a bronze medal.

Both Raisman and Mustafina earned 59.566 points from the judges after the four events - beam, bar, vault and floor - but Raisman got higher points than Mustafina in three out of those four events.

In the end though, Mustafina won the tiebreaker and the bronze because her tiebreaker score was better than Raisman's - but, according to Hollywood Gossip, the scores were "calculated unfairly."

"Because Mustafina was a lot better than Raisman in one event (the bars, 16.1 to 14.333), she earned the Bronze Medal... even though Raisman was better in every single other event," they reported. "Two competitors scored the same number of points. Can't they each win the Bronze? Or, considering this is dubbed the all-around competition, shouldn't that prize go to the better all-around athlete?"

Many other Olympic sports give out more than one medal when there is a tie but in the case of gymnastics, the one event that Raisman did not excel in lost her the bronze, a tragedy that fans are baffled by.

Raisman tried to hold her head up high though as she left the arena.

"I'm trying to stay positive about it. Of course it's a huge bummer, but I'm still fourth in the world, so that's something to be proud of. It is what it is."
