Boardwalk Empire comes to an end on HBO this Sunday with the finale for the drama's fifth and final season.

'Boardwalk Empire' Cast Dishes On 'The Call'

"I keep going until you can't go back," declares Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) gravely during the preview for the series finale (featured below). "Then it's too late."

HBO managed to shove a lot of story into one 35-second trailer this week, most notably showing Al Capone (Stephen Graham) in his famous white suit outside the courthouse before being sent to prison and Lucky Luciano (Vincent Piazza) planning a "public" assassination for Nucky.

The teaser also includes a reunion for Nucky and his brother Eli (Shea Whigham) and a quiet scene in which Nucky and his estranged wife Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) dance in the dark, perhaps for the last time.

Much of the preview lingers on Nucky walking along the Atlantic City boardwalk, with a striking expression of surprise on his face as he sees something strange which he recognizes or even fears.

The finale for the prohibition drama will certainly be tying up some loose ends for supporting characters this Sunday, as well as include a few flashbacks of Nucky rising through the ranks during his early years in Atlantic City politics.

With all the reflection Nucky's been doing this season, as well as the fall of his empire, there's no telling what writers have in store for him when all is said and done.

Boardwalk Empire will continue on HBO with the finale for its fifth and final season Sunday, Oct. 26 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
