'Doctor Strange' Cast: Ryan Gosling Looks A Lot Like The Sorcerer Supreme In Latest Role, Is He Getting Ready For Marvel? [VIDEO]
It may be taking longer than Marvel thought to cast the role of Doctor Strange, but could one big name actor be prepping for the role as he films his latest movie? His facial hair seems to point in that direction.
Some photographs of Ryan Gosling on the set of his latest film, The Nice Guys, surfaced on Buzzfeed on Friday with the actor sporting a new facial hair style that is very reminiscent of one Steven Strange, a role that Gosling has been rumored to be interested in.
Gosling joined a list that included Colin Farrell, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Joaquin Phoenix as four actors who were the latest short list made by Marvel for the role of Doctor Strange. Phoenix had previously turned down the role, but was rumored to still be slightly interested should it float around any longer.
The role has been elusive as of late as after Phoenix turned it down, it seemed like Marvel would be stuck. But a recent list included names such as Jared Leto, Matthew McConaughey, Ethan Hawke, and Ewan McGregor that suggested that there was still interest in the role.
Gosling has been an actor who has been reluctant to join a major tentpole franchise due to the contract contraints, but it seems like as of late, he is open to the idea as he is choosing to play either Doctor Strange, a role in WB's Suicide Squad, or start a Houdini franchise of his own.
Doctor Strange is directed by Scott Derrickson and is expected to hit theaters in July 2016.
