Earlier this week Taylor Kitsch hinted that he was in the running for Season 2 of HBO's hit crime drama True Detective, but it looks like the actor has finally gone ahead and confirmed his involvement.

Taylor Kitsch Addresses 'True Detective' Casting Rumors

During an interview with Adweek on Monday, (Wolverine, Lone Survivor) writer Sam Thielman declared up front that Kitsch had True Detective coming up on the roster. The actor nodded with a "Mm-hmmm" which was as much as the actor could formally say on the subject before all the contracts are officially signed.

"I'm really excited," continued Kitsch. "I've just been prepping. It's been almost a full year since I've been on camera, so I'm itching man. I'm overdo… It was tough to sit a year out, keeping a finger crossed that I was going to get True [Detective]."

It turns out Kitsch year-long break from acting was in part to land a coveted spot on the HBO drama. "I mean it was just showing a lot of patience on my end and turning a lot of studs down because I wanted to be a part of it," explained the actor.

"I'm so excited," he claimed, insisting that talks with creator Nic Pizzolatto have only made him more eager to begin. "I love that first season of it so much. It's just unlike anything I've seen in, you know, I don't know when."

Last Thursday Kitsch had remained pretty a vague about the series when talking to Access Hollywood, saying only that he was "rumored" to be involved and that "it would be nice" to land a role.

Kitsch will be joining confirmed cast members Colin Farrell (Minority Repot, Saving Mr. Banks) and Vince Vaughn (Into the Wild, Wedding Crashers) in California this year as they begin filming the show's new episodes.

True Detective will return on HBO for a second season mid-2015.
