The synopsis for the upcoming alternate reality episode of ABC's Castle has been released, which may just result in the show's main characters finally marrying.

ABC has released a plot synopsis for the sixth episode of the season, titled The Time of Our Lives. and it sounds like a pretty significant one for Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic).

"A murder investigation launches Castle into what seems to be an alternate universe where he's never met Kate Beckett," the synopsis reads. "Castle has to convince Beckett, Esposito [Jon Huertas] and Ryan [Seamus Dever] -- now complete strangers -- to let him participate in their investigation so he can find his way back to his own world. This inspires Castle & Beckett to finally take a trip to the altar."

The episode is written by Terri Edda Miller and directed by Paul Holahan.

While the synopsis is not clear on the logistics of this alternate reality, the mention of Castle and Beckett taking a trip to the altar indicates that the episode will feature the Castle-Beckett wedding. The trailer for the episode (featured below) indicates that the wedding will be real, so fans are already rejoicing.

Huertas previously spoke about this episode with TVLine, saying that it takes place in a different world.

"It was a lot of fun, getting into that script and seeing how we might all be a bit different," he said. "It's a really fun episode, and people are really going to enjoy it. It's one of those episodes where you have to laugh."

Castle airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
