Lifetime has dropped another trailer for the upcoming biopic Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B, this one featuring the late singer's mother, Diane Houghton, and revealing how she got her signature hairstyle of side bangs.

In the scene, the Try Again singer, played by Alexandra Shipp, is vamping up her style, with her mother (played by Rachael Crawford) by her side.

Aaliyah says she wants to try a new look.

"I want to be inspired. I want to find a stylist that is creative enough to come up with a look that captures a moment. You know, captures me."

The makeup artist refers her to someone while her mother then "adds a little mystery" to her hair. She references actress Veronica Lake and how she used her hair to cover up one of her eyes.

Trying it out the mother says, "Oh yeah. You want different, right? There's nothing wrong with a little mystery."

Aaliyah seems to agree as she says, " I feel it."

The network released the trailer for the highly anticipated film a few weeks ago. In the clip Shipp rocks Aaliyah's notable Timberland boots, bra and pants showing off her boxers as well as sunglasses.

It shows Aaliyah's rise to fame with iconic people who helped boost her career like R&B singer and producer R. Kelly. It also portrays her relationship with the older singer as well as Damon Dash, who she dated after her alleged marriage to R. Kelly.

There has been lots of controversy surrounding the film as her family made it clear they did not stand behind it.

Still, Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B debuts on Lifetime Saturday at 8/7c. Take a look at the official trailer.
