With the recent rumors of Margot Robbie and Jared Leto joining one of the upcoming DC movies as Harley Quinn and The Joker, could this mean the beginning of a long string of battles between Batman and his biggest enemy?

Anne Hathaway Wants To Be Catwoman Again, But On One Condition

Collider reported on Sunday that Robbie is close to signing on to Suicide Squad to play Harley Quinn with another rumor that Leto was circling the role of The Joker. While Quinn is known for appearing in the comics, the Joker would be a new addition and one that would probably be directing linked with the future of the universe.

Besides what makes Leto a good or bad choice, the inclusion of the Joker could hint at DC looking to introduce and establish these character outside of the realm of Batman's universe, which will probably be introduced in Batman v. Superman, and could set-up for multiple battles between them along the timeline.

It is doubtful that Batman would show up in Suicide Squad, but a possible standalone movie is possible and one storyline they could follow is the recent popular video game, Arkham Asylum.

The game features Batman taking the Joker into Arkham Asylum only to find out that it was completely planned and the villain is holding the island hostage as part of an elaborate plan to take over Gotham.

This is an interesting route for the universe as it allows The Joker and Batman to face each other, deals with the origin story of the Caped Crusader some, but mainly deals into the value of the fight between these two adversaries. It also includes Harley Quinn in the middle of it.

Who knows what DC's plans are with including Joker and Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, but it most likely could be introducing them before they become crucial in Batman's story.
