True Detective scored two more players this week for the crime drama's second season, one of whom brings previous HBO experience to the table.

Lolita Davidovich (Blaze, Play It To The Bone) and James Frain (True Blood, The Tudors) were added to the cast on Friday, joining Kelly Reilly (Black Box), Abigail Spencer (Suits), Michael Irby (Almost Human) and Leven Rambin (The Hunger Games) as supporting characters.

The HBO hit's second season will explore government corruption and murder through the eyes of California police officers, played by Colin Farrell (Minority Report, Saving Mr. Banks) and Taylor Kitsch (Wolverine, Lone Survivor), and a criminal, portrayed by Vince Vaughn (Into the Wild, Wedding Crashers).

How 'True Detective' Forever 'Changed' Female Star's Career

According to Deadline, Davidovich will be playing Nancy Simpson, an aging woman who places all her expectations on her son, played by Kitsch. Frain will be stepping into the role of a brutal police lieutenant, likely to be the boss over Farrell and Kitsch's characters.

Rumors still have Rachel McAdams (The Vow, A Most Wanted Man) locked in for the female police officer role alongside Farrell and Kitsch, though HBO has yet to confirm her official involvement. Trouble with her contract could be the cause of a production delay. The series, which was supposed to begin filming in California a month ago, still seems to be struggling to get going.

True Detective returns to HBO for a second season in 2015.
