Rapper MC Lyte is the latest celebrity to speak out on the Aaliyah: Princess of R&B biopic and similar to others who have shared their thoughts already, she confessed she thought the Lifetime movie was "rushed."

She spoke with DJ Vlad of VladTV recently and while she said she did not tune in to the entire film, she watched enough to know that it "seemed made for Lifetime."

She added, "I think people were expecting a whole lot more. You can see that by all of the outrage on social media.

People are really upset that it wasn't given its due diligence. I cannot...I must agree with that.

It was deserving of more time, as far as script and flow goes. I remember there was one shot when we went straight from her being a kid to her being older. Nothing told us, 'five years later' we were just to assume that since this woman was in front of the camera that she was Aaliyah."

The iconic lyricist also commented on Timbaland's outburst on social media. Timbaland was one of the late singer's best friends and was the brains, along with Missy Elliott behind several of her hits like One In A Million and Are You That Somebody?

MC Lyte added that a second try and telling the singer's story might not be a bad idea.

 "Hopefully I mean, I think because this one didn't meet up to anyone's expectations, maybe there'll be another one where it can be done properly."
