While Sony is trying to wrangle a way to make Spider-Man cool again with his new series, could a shift to the internet and a television series on Netflix be the fix that the superhero needs to revitalize the brand?

Could This Potential Oscar Nominee Become The Next Superhero In Sony's Spider-Man Universe?

Movie Pilot speculated on Sunday how a Netflix series with Spider-Man could work and how it would be able to re-establish the brand and keep the awkward origin story re-do and multiple villains out of the plans.

They figured that by making a series that already had Peter Parker as Spider-Man would work perfectly as it would allow his story to take shape rather than going through an origin that audiences have seen a million times already. This would allow us to immediately be in on the story and dive into the daily turmoil of being a superhero.

Is Fixing The Spider-Man Franchise As Easy As Doing This One Thing?

The series could also allow for multiple villains, but the ability to have them in different episodes allowed each one to become more fleshed out and not feel like filler like some of them did in the last Spider-Man movie. It would make it easy for them to give each villain their time in the spotlight so a real connection between them and Spidey could happen rather than them just fighting for the sake of it.

While these plans seem more in line with Marvel, the site was working off of the rumor that Sony and Marvel may be working out a deal for the hero if it continues to slide at the former company. With a slate of Netflix shows coming, and the connection with Daredevil, it would make sense to re-establish Spidey through a television show and then throw him back into features with the Avengers.
