The next X-Men movie made casting waves awhile back when they named up-and-coming star Oscar Isaac the film's villain, Apocalypse. Now Isaac had a chance to talk about taking the role and what moments from his childhood drew him to the role.

Is This 'X-Men' Character Headed To 'Apocalypse' After Being Cut From The Deadpool Movie?

In an interview on Wednesday with MTV News, Isaac talked about his interest in the X-Men comics and why Apocalypse stuck out to him.

"The first comic book I ever collected was 'X-Factor,'" he said. "I read that story with Archangel and Apocalypse. I was also obsessed with the book of Revelation, and anything that referenced the second coming or the rapture... I was a weird kid."

As for getting into the role, Isaac said that he was very excited to start working on it and that it was something he is looking forward to.

"I was really into Apocalypse," Isaac said. "When I found out they were interested in me, I got very excited."

The actor also added that he has not had any conversations as to what the villain will look like, but he is excited to see what they decide to do with the appearance of the famous bad guy.

Isaac is an up-and-coming star with blockbusters and his role in both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and X-Men: Apocalypse in larger roles is telling of that. He also seems genuinely excited for the role, which is something that could be seen as good news for fans. Sometimes actors know the monetary value of playing a character in a superhero movie, but it seems like Isaac is excited for the role on top of that.

X-Men: Apocalypse comes out on May 27, 2016.
