Scorpion's Walter and Paige may have a romantic relationship in their future, but the CBS series will take the scenic route getting them there.

The path to the possible amorous pairing of Walter and Paige is rife with difficulties, and executive producer Nick Wootton believes it is important for the coworkers to take matters slowly, to proceed with "a real touch-and-go approach."

"Walter has his questionable emotional quotient, and Paige has been burned before and doesn't want to proceed without her son's best interests at heart," Wootton told TV Line.

Viewers saw Walter's latest relationship crumble in spectacular fashion during the premiere, but Mr. O'Brien is not the same man he was before he met Paige. If "Revenge" proved anything, it is that the team leader is not as emotionally closed off as he would like others to think.

Scorpion has yet to air their midseason finale, but Wootton is already dishing out teasers for the end of the season. According to TV Line, Walter and Paige will close out season 1 "with a big cliffhanger."
