Fans are largely divided on whether or not FX's American Horror Story: Freak Show is a good season of the horror anthology, though many believe that it is getting stronger.

'American Horror Story's Elsa Moves To Hollywood As Dandy Makes 'Debut Performance' In Final Episode

With 10 episodes having aired of Freak Show, many fans are enjoying the trajectory of the season, while others are less than impressed. With a majority of the season having aired, does Freak Show rank up at the top in terms of best AHS seasons or is it near the bottom?

Since the beginning of Freak Show, certain fans have been complaining about how "boring" the show is this year. AHS co-creator Ryan Murphy and company have employed a slower pace this season compared to the rapid-fire Coven, which can make for a jolting transition.

Will Elsa, Bette, Dot, Dandy & More Survive Through End of 'American Horror Story: Freak Show'?

Additionally, the show's overall tone has been relatively depressing with many "freaks" being killed and moping over their respective lots in life. At the same time, however, this is realistic to how things were in the '50s with the persecution of those not considered "normal."

One character that has been a positive to many fans is Dandy (Finn Wittrock), the petulant man-child who gets his kicks from murdering basically everyone who gets in his way. Wittrock is a big discovery for the show and has become a huge fan favorite to the viewing audience.

On the negative side, it can be argued that there is a lack of a central conflict in Freak Show. While certain plot lines seem like they are given prominence, many of them have already ended, including Twisty the Clown's (John Carroll Lynch) terrifying presence and Ethel (Kathy Bates) slowly discovering the truth about Elsa (Jessica Lange.

As it stands now, Dandy appears to be the main villain of the season while Stanley (Denis O'Hare) continues to be a menace at the freak show. But are these conflicts as strong as previous seasons?

Murder House featured the Harmon family against their haunted house, Asylum had Lana Winters (Sarah Paulson) trying to escape the asylum and Coven had the question of who would be the next Supreme.

It remains to be seen if Freak Show will stick the landing and feature a satisfying conclusion. Some believe that it is looking up, especially with episode 10's storyline revolving around Pepper (Naomi Grossman). One Facebook user named Alex Au summed it up relatively perfectly on the American Horror Story page:

"People were complaining 'This Season Sucked', then they watched Pepper's episode and be like 'Best Season Ever'."

Will Freak Show cement itself as a good season in the final three episodes?

American Horror Story: Freak Show is slated to return on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
